These recipes are suitable for anyone over the age to five to help to make. If you are older you might manage on your own. Always ask your parents before you start cooking and be sure to find an adult helper when dealing with hot things or sharp knives.
Follow these safety guidelines whenever you are cooking
Wash your hands and read your recipe before you start.
Wear an apron or overall when you are cooking.
Never run or rush about the kitchen.
Be careful with sharp knives. If you hand someone a knife, carefully, pass the handle first. If you drop a knife do not try to catch it. Step back, let it drop to the floor and then pick it up. Never put a sharp knife into a bowl of washing up.
Stoves, saucepans and baking trays can all be hot. Remember to use oven gloves when handling hot things. Think carefully when handling boiling water or adding water to hot pans, it may boil up and splutter. Remember that steam is hotter than boiling water. Don't put your hand or arm over steam or pick up hot things with a wet cloth.
If you spill water or oil on the floor make sure that it is mopped up straight away with a floor cloth.
Sad but true - washing up is part of cooking. Don't leave the kitchen in a mess you might not be allowed to use the kitchen again.
