Chocolate Brownies
 
 
140g Brown sugar 
110g self raising flour 
30g Cocoa powder 
 2 eggs 
1 teaspoon vanilla essence 
130g butter 
To decorate: chocolate buttons and sprinkles
 
 
1.    Grease and line the base of a 20cm square baking tin.  Heat the oven   to 180C/Gas mark 4
 
2.    Melt the butter
 
3.    Mix the cocoa and sugar together
 
4.    Beat the eggs with the vanilla and add to the cocoa.  Now stir in the melted butter.
 
5.    Sift in the flour and mix just until smooth – not too much.
 
6.    Put the mixture into the baking tin and bake for about 20 minutes until the mixture feels firm when lightly pressed in the middle with the fingertips.
 
7.    Turn onto a wire rack. Imagine where you will cut the brownies into squares and decorate with the buttons and sprinkle in between. Allow to cool completely and cut into squares.
